This is really just a short note to reiterate the importance of travel insurance Thankfully most of my clients see the value in insurance and purchase it at time of deposit. It is like auto insurance in that you hate paying for it until you have an accident .... and then you are SO thankful that you had it.
We are in the middle of a very active hurricane season. Don't just assume you will be able to get all your money back if you have to cancel. Most airlines charge a change or cancel fee of $200 PLUS if your request falls outside of their waiver parameters for this particular weather event. Some hotels allow you to cancel up to a week in advance and others will have a non-refundable portion of the trip that starts as soon as you pay the deposit.
Another big ticket item is if you should become ill or hurt and need medical attention or even medical evacuation. Did you know that MOST health insurance policies do not cover you out of the USA? What happens when a loved one or friend traveling with you DIES in another country? It is very difficult and extremely expensive to repatriate a body. Believe me when I tell you, you will wish you had the insurance.
Our insurance providers are great at assisting clients in these difficult positions and take a lot of the stress and worry out of a terrible situation. They are worth every penny they charge.
For many "Fun in the Sun" flight/hotel packages we can get Cancel For Any Reason insurance. It is the most expensive but you can cancel for having a bad hair day (24 hours before departure) and get all your money back except for the insurance premium. We also offer great coverage for a lower price that covers you for just about every unforeseen thing that could prevent or interrupt your much needed vacation. ***It is very important to buy insurance on the day of deposit or at least within 7 days of deposit so that you will be covered for pre-existing conditions.
So please, protect yourself and your investment in that great getaway. I hope you never need the insurance, but will be glad that you prepared anyway.
Thanks for listening! Janet
